The Victoria Lines
the Victoria Lines—one of Malta’s best-kept historical secrets. Built by the British between 1875 and 1899, this incredible defensive line stretches across the island, following the natural fault in the landscape.
The Victoria Lines were designed as a protective barrier, linking forts, batteries, and infantry positions to defend against potential invasions from the north. While they were never put to the test in battle, these fortifications remain a stunning example of 19th-century military engineering.
